Long before modern technology, people were tracking their cycles with analog calendars. While simple calendars can help you learn more about your body, pen and paper cannot predict when your next period will arrive. That’s where Clue and cycle tracking comes in.

What are the benefits of cycle tracking?

Research tells us cycle tracking can help women and people with cycles in a few ways:

  1. Learn more about your body. Tracking your physical and mental experiences can increase self-awareness and self-knowledge by helping you understand your body and its experiences through each phase of your cycle (1,2). From vaginal fluid to energy levels – you’ll discover your own unique cycle patterns.

  2. Know your baseline and notice changes. Understanding your cycle baseline (what’s typical for you), can help you notice when something has changed (1). Sharing what you track with your healthcare provider can help them get a better understanding of your overall reproductive health so they can cater their advice to your body specifically (3). This can help you learn more about what to expect and look out for as some of your particular cycle experiences (3).

  3. Be prepared for your period and cycle-related experiences. It’s not only about making sure you’re stocked up with pads, tampons, or a menstrual cup – for many women and people with cycles, menstruation can mean managing pain, discomfort, and other experiences (4). Knowing when to expect your period and cycle-related experiences can help you feel prepared (1). Getting in front of your cramps and planning movement, or whatever makes you feel more comfortable, can help you have more pain-free days (1).

So what’s the Plus in Clue Period Tracking Plus?

While Clue has helped millions around the world know more about their bodies and cycles, we have even more to offer. When you upgrade to Clue Plus, you get access to advanced cycle predictions for even more information and insights – empowering you on your particular journey of self-discovery and reproductive health. What does this include?

Six cycles of Advanced Cycle Predictions

With Clue Period Tracking in Clue Plus, you can conveniently plan around your period for up to six menstrual cycles. Easily see the dates of your next predicted six periods via the Calendar View in your Clue app so you can schedule everything from leisure activities to intimate moments on days that you know will work for you.

Advanced Cycle Analysis

Your Analysis Tab in Clue Plus is the go-to place to learn about your cycle’s individual baseline, like its typical length and your most common cycle-related experiences. This can help you discover patterns in both your physical and mental well-being, which you may not have otherwise recognized. These insights include answers to questions like:

  • How many days can you expect your period to last?

  • What emotions could you typically expect to experience before, during, and after your period?

  • What physical experiences could you expect in the coming weeks?

After tracking three cycles, Clue Plus will have enough data to give you individualized insights. You’ll be able to spot patterns in your cycle-related experiences in the “Your Recurrent Symptoms” section of the Analysis Tab. This will empower you to stay in tune with your body and get an idea of when you might be noticing experiences or changes outside your typical range. This information can encourage you to make more informed decisions about your health, like considering external factors which may be affecting this, or ideally contacting your healthcare provider and sharing it with them, for further exploration and discussion.

Access to tips, articles, and advice from the experts

Clue is committed to writing science-based content that breaks down complicated topics like fertility, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), the science of sex, and so much more into easy-to-understand articles. We want to support you throughout different life stages and changes with helpful content you can use in your everyday life. You’ll also be able to tap into the shared personal experiences of everyday people like you, because chances are, you’re not alone.

Have questions about menstruation, sex, birth control, and more? Ever visited a website to ask a question and received an answer that scared you? Avoid unverified sources. Don't fuss, use Clue Plus.

Personal Cycle Overview Email

With Clue Plus, every time you finish tracking a cycle, you’ll receive a Cycle Overview email with a breakdown of your average cycle and period lengths, as well as information about how much your cycles vary. No need to worry about the medical terminology, we’ll tell you a few things you might not know about your cycle, its phases, and give you a heads-up on when you can expect your next period to start.

Think of your Cycle Overview email as the meeting notes or “debrief” from your cycle, perfectly summed up and delivered like clockwork into your inbox. This is both helpful for you and a goldmine of accurate information to take along to an appointment with your healthcare provider.
