Accessibility guide to the Clue office

Welcome to Clue! We created this guide to provide you with all the information you might need if you’re visiting the Clue office.

If you have specific needs, or there’s something we haven’t covered, please bring it up with the person who invited you to the office.

A map showing the Clue office in relation to the Kottbusser Tor U-Bahn station and the M29 bus stop.

Location of the Clue office

Adalbertstrasse 7/8 Building B (5th floor) Berlin 10999

Public transport connections:

By train: U-Bahn Kottbusser Tor (U1, U8) By bus: M29, 140

How to find the office:

Enter the courtyard and head towards the back building. You'll find the Building B entrance — “Aufgang B” at the back, left side of the property (if you have the street behind you).

Enter the building through the front door. To unlock the door ring the doorbell that says Clue/Biowink GmbH. When you enter the door you will need to go up one step (13cm).

If you are able to climb stairs, walk up to the 5th floor and ring the doorbell next to the door that says Clue.

If you need to use the elevator, please let us know beforehand (preferred), or talk into the microphone after you ring the doorbell. Someone will bring the elevator down and collect you. You can enter the elevator from outside the building, thereby avoiding the step at the front door.

Parking

If you are attending an event or interview and require further information about parking arrangements please contact the person who is organising the event, or the person who invited you to the office.

Stairs and elevators/lifts

Stairs

There are stairs to all floors of the building. Stairs have a handrail on the inside (your right side as you go up the stairs). Stairs are located through the door opposite to the lifts.

There are 18 steps between each floor and the one above/below, separated by one landing.

The elevator/lift

A lift is available to access all areas of the building visitors may need to reach. The lift needs a key to work when going up. To descend, a key is not required.

The lift does not have spoken destination information. Lift doors are heavy and open outwards. To open the door, press the round button on the door and push hard.

When riding in the lift, take care to stay back from the doors. If a person or object is too close to the doors an alarm will sound. To turn it off press the “Reset” button near the buttons for each floor. After pressing the reset button, select your destination floor again. The alarm sound will stop and the elevator will travel very slowly to its destination.

Accessing the Clue office

All visitors are asked to report to the Clue office on the 5th floor of the building. Access to the Clue office is between 2-3 meters from where you reach the floor. To access the office, ring the doorbell on the 5th floor (to the left of the door). Someone will open the door for you and welcome you in. The door is quite heavy and opens inwards.

When you enter the 5th floor office space there is a kitchen to your left, and a seating/waiting area to your right. The seating is up one step (21cm high). You may need to wait a few minutes here for the person you are meeting with.

Wheelchair accessibility

The building is accessible to people using wheelchairs, although assistance will likely be required to enter the lift (heavy manual doors), ascend (key required) and exit the lift (heavy manual doors).

The door to enter the office is a heavy door which needs to be opened manually. The door opens inwards. Toilet facilities at Clue are not wheelchair accessible.

Toilets

The toilets at Clue are for all genders and are not wheelchair accessible. Toilets are located just inside the entrance to the office, on both the 4th and 5th floors. A shower is available on the 4th floor. All toilet cubicles are fitted with rubbish bins and complementary period products are provided.

Dogs

We have a dog-friendly office where people find the presence of dogs a benefit to their work environment. If you are allergic to or afraid of dogs please let us know before your visit, and we will make sure the space is safe for you.

Assistance dogs

Assistance dogs are permitted at Clue, but please let us know in advance if you are planning to bring an assistance dog. Water bowls can be found in the kitchen — ask a member of the staff.

Hearing loops

Hearing loops are not installed in the Clue office. If you have a hearing impairment and require accommodations please let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Sensory issues

Lighting

There is a mix of natural light and light from LED office-style lighting. Light levels vary, but are not excessively bright. If you need adjustments to lighting, please let a Clue staff member know.

Sounds

During standard work hours, noise levels are generally low, but the amount of noise will depend on the event or meeting being held.

If there’s an emergency when you’re at Clue, such as a fire, you will hear a loud alarm. You may also hear other sounds during your visit. These include: coffee grinder, kitchen blender, dishes being placed in or removed from the dishwasher, coffee machine noise.

Smells

You might smell food and drink in various locations around the Clue office. Clue is not a fragrance-free space, but if this is a requirement for you please let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Emergency evacuation

In the event of an emergency situation the building will be evacuated. The lift will not be usable in case of an emergency. If there is a fire, you will hear an alarm which has a very loud tone. Alarms are located in the stairwell, one on each floor.

In case of emergency, visitors are asked to follow the evacuation signs and the instructions of Clue staff. Clue staff will assist visitors in leaving the building.
