Los antojos son los cambios en el apetito; surgen como un deseo (difícil de contener) de ingerir cierto tipo de alimentos, como dulces y alimentos altos en grasas. Ahora bien, \",\"nodeType\":\"text\"},{\"data\":{},\"marks\":[{\"type\":\"bold\"}],\"value\":\"hay diferencias entre tener un antojo y sentir hambre\",\"nodeType\":\"text\"},{\"data\":{},\"marks\":[],\"value\":\". Los antojos los sentimos por ciertos alimentos y con mucha intensidad, mientras que cuando tenemos hambre no pensamos mucho en que queremos algún alimento en especial (4).\",\"nodeType\":\"text\"}],\"nodeType\":\"paragraph\"},{\"data\":{},\"content\":[{\"data\":{},\"marks\":[],\"value\":\"Ciclo menstrual e ingesta de alimentos \",\"nodeType\":\"text\"}],\"nodeType\":\"heading-2\"},{\"data\":{},\"content\":[{\"data\":{},\"marks\":[],\"value\":\"Un estudio llevado a cabo en Alemania y publicado en 1995 indago sobre el consumo de alimentos durante el ciclo menstrual a partir de los datos de 27 mujeres entre 21 y 48 años, que no usaban anticonceptivos orales y que tenían un periodo regular. Se observó que durante durante la \",\"nodeType\":\"text\"},{\"data\":{},\"marks\":[{\"type\":\"bold\"}],\"value\":\"fase lútea\",\"nodeType\":\"text\"},{\"data\":{},\"marks\":[],\"value\":\" (la fase justo después de la ovulación y antes del inicio del periodo) hay una mayor ingesta de energía total que en la fase folicular (la fase que va desde el inicio del periodo hasta antes de la ovulación), y esto se puede relacionar con bajos niveles de estrógeno y serotonina y con complejos mecanismo neuroquímicos. Para comprender estos sucesos es necesario correlacionar las fluctuaciones de las hormonas que se producen en los ovarios (estrógeno y progesterona) con los otros movimientos de otras hormonas que participan en la regulación de ingesta de alimentos. También, este estudio resulta interesante porque pone de relieve que algunas mujeres pueden ser más sensibles a la hiperfagia lútea y ser más propensas a la obesidad (2).\",\"nodeType\":\"text\"}],\"nodeType\":\"paragraph\"},{\"data\":{},\"content\":[{\"data\":{},\"marks\":[],\"value\":\"Otro estudio llevado a cabo en Estados Unidos con 52 mujeres sobre  las fluctuaciones hormonales y la ingesta de alimentos determinó que hay una disminución de la ingesta de alimentos y aumento del estradiol cerca de la ventana de fértil, es decir,  cerca de la ovulación. Y en  la fasea lútea,  aumenta la progesterona y el consumo de alimentos (5).\",\"nodeType\":\"text\"}],\"nodeType\":\"paragraph\"},{\"data\":{},\"content\":[{\"data\":{},\"marks\":[{\"type\":\"bold\"}],\"value\":\"Un estudio realizado en Latinoamérica evidencia la complejidad de los diversos factores que inciden en la elección y consumo de alimentos.\",\"nodeType\":\"text\"},{\"data\":{},\"marks\":[],\"value\":\" La investigación llevada a cabo en México con un grupo de 936 mujeres entre 15 y 35 años que residían en zonas urbanas observó que durante el periodo menstrual cambiaban los hábitos alimenticios de acuerdo con la presencia de varios síntomas de malestar y de la intensidad con que se presenten. Este estudio destaca la relación entre el nivel de escolaridad y los cambios en la ingesta de alimentos: las mujeres con menor escolaridad hacen mayores modificaciones en sus hábitos alimenticios. La serotonina es un neurotransmisor, es decir, un compuesto químico que transmite información de una neurona a otra sobre procesos relacionados con el apetito, el sueño, niveles de ansiedad y estados de ánimo; comúnmente se le asocia con el bienestar y la felicidad (15). \",\"nodeType\":\"text\"}],\"nodeType\":\"paragraph\"},{\"data\":{},\"content\":[{\"data\":{},\"marks\":[],\"value\":\"Así pues, en la fase premenstrual se observó que hay \",\"nodeType\":\"text\"},{\"data\":{},\"marks\":[{\"type\":\"bold\"}],\"value\":\"mayores deseos de alimentos altos en carbohidratos\",\"nodeType\":\"text\"},{\"data\":{},\"marks\":[],\"value\":\" y se manifiestan síntomas de depresión, lo que es asociado con una baja actividad de serotonina. Este estudio sugiere que este antojo puede ser un mecanismo de adaptación ante la falta de serotonina, puesto que el consumo de carbohidratos aumenta su presencia en el cerebro. No obstante, se menciona que son conclusiones incipientes (7).\",\"nodeType\":\"text\"}],\"nodeType\":\"paragraph\"},{\"data\":{},\"content\":[{\"data\":{},\"marks\":[],\"value\":\"Este artículo evidencia que los antojos son más intensos cuando la depresión es grave y que ésta es mayor durante la fase premenstrual, lo que puede conllevar al \",\"nodeType\":\"text\"},{\"data\":{},\"marks\":[{\"type\":\"bold\"}],\"value\":\"aumento de peso\",\"nodeType\":\"text\"},{\"data\":{},\"marks\":[],\"value\":\". Además, los cambios en la serotonina pueden implicar mayor vulnerabilidad a los antojos, al aumento de alimentos y a la depresión (7).\",\"nodeType\":\"text\"}],\"nodeType\":\"paragraph\"},{\"data\":{},\"content\":[{\"data\":{},\"marks\":[],\"value\":\"Por su parte, para conocer sobre la relación entre la ingesta de alimentos y mujeres con TDPM (Trastorno Disfórico Premenstrual), un estudio publicado en 2008 que contó con 29 participantes estadounidenses -un grupo tenía TDPM y el otro no-, determinó que en las mujeres con TDPM hubo un aumento en el apetito y en la ingesta de alimentos durante la fase lútea, en comparación con la fase folicular y con mujeres que no padecen de TDPM. \",\"nodeType\":\"text\"},{\"data\":{},\"marks\":[{\"type\":\"bold\"}],\"value\":\"El aumento de apetito es sobre todo de alimentos altos en grasa, ya sea dulces o salados (8).\",\"nodeType\":\"text\"},{\"data\":{},\"marks\":[],\"value\":\" \",\"nodeType\":\"text\"}],\"nodeType\":\"paragraph\"},{\"data\":{},\"content\":[{\"data\":{},\"marks\":[],\"value\":\"Esta investigación sugiere que las ganas de comida se relacionan con un déficit de serotonina y/o con neuroesteroides (estos intervienen en procesos cerebrales relacionados con el estado de ánimo y comportamiento) (8).\",\"nodeType\":\"text\"}],\"nodeType\":\"paragraph\"},{\"data\":{},\"content\":[{\"data\":{},\"marks\":[],\"value\":\"Alimentación y el uso de anticonceptivos \",\"nodeType\":\"text\"}],\"nodeType\":\"heading-2\"},{\"data\":{},\"content\":[{\"data\":{},\"marks\":[],\"value\":\"Otra asunto a tener en cuenta es la incidencia del uso de anticonceptivos en la ingesta de alimentos.
